Unboxing is on at The Meeting Place Barrow tonight, for one night only, with Eithne Browne in the role of Nora. This is part of the Inclusion Festival with Rachel Ashton at Theatre Factory. This is a sold out show!
Brews, boxes and bickering. A typical Sunday at your Grandma’s, right?
Unboxing explores the relationship between Jess and her Grandmother, Nora, whose close bond is put to the test after old memories bring up unspoken issues. Is their relationship as honest as Nora thought? How long can Jess shrug off Nora’s outdated views? And are they actually more similar than they realise?
The piece has themes of Northern family conflict, generational relationships and female body image.
It was written following consultations with women of all ages from across Barrow.
